This resort is right on the ocean. They offer breakfast each morning in their restaurant. The owners were very accommodating with rooms and helping plan day adventures. The bar staff makes great frozen drinks! Try the mudslide. Our first cabin didn't have any hot water. However, the owners wanted us to enjoy our stay so placed us in another cabin with functioning hot water.
Water view Everything, hotel from Hell was the name affectionately given to the experience by other hotel guests. Definitely not a 4 star hotel, barely a 1.5 star experience. Food was awful at best, breakfast buffet featured hard boiled eggs, some fruit and day old bread/pancakes. Service was slow and inconsistent. If you want a warm shower everyday or even a cold shower, both the water and heat are a daily gamble. The owners yell and belittle the staff in plan site and it makes the atmosphere feel like you are at a bad thanksgiving dinner with the angry/hostile hosting couple. If you seek never ending drama and excuses this is the place for you.
I liked it away from town it was very nice. The employees were very helpful. The bathroom had a little mold. But were the hotel is that's hard not to have.
There were a lot of great things about Playa Tortuga, i.e., the views; the olympic-sized pool; the delicious mixed drinks; the comfortable beds, and the free kayak rentals. However, there were a few things that made our stay less-than luxurious. I came to this hotel with my fiancé in June. When we arrived, we were ecstatic! What a beautiful hotel! For the first few days, we were very satisfied. Everything was going so well. However, as our week-long stay continued, things started going down hill. First, my fiancé made sure to purchase the breakfast plan with our stay which included an all-you-can-eat buffet filled with eggs, french toast, pancakes, cereals, sausages, bacon, yogurts, etc. The breakfast for the first few mornings was delicious! I was so happy. Then we went downstairs one morning and they decided to forgo the buffet because not enough people were staying at the hotel to eat the food, and instead had a sit down breakfast. This would have been OK if they didn't limit the ...
One of the best hotel in Bocas del Toro. A good room with a view.
The room and decor was nice and tastefully done The water pressure in the shower was barely enough to wet my hair. A coffee/tea station would have been nice. When I ordered coffee, it took quite a long time to get and was lukewarm, and on one occasion only got half a cup of coffee. I was told I coul
Location and swimming pool Food is expensive better off eating in town
The pool & location on the ocean, deck overlooking the Caribbean were ideal. Close enough to easily walk anywhere in Bocas, but it's really nice that it is away from the main drag where it could get loud. The staff (1 man) was SO helpful & hardworking! The room is pretty basic, but was clean and comfortable. There was hot water in the shower, but the sink didn't have it, which was fine, but somewhat odd.
The beds where too small, and it was'nt the budget room.
Great views of the bay. Clean and neat. Pool nice. Air conditioner worked well. Within walking distance to just about everything. All in all I would stay here again. Cable TV had 3 channels...all snowy.
