Ventajas: From the beautiful location to the exceptional customer service, our stay was dreamlike. Mel and Suzette at Bamboo Spa delighted us with their amazing skill and open smiles. The Arcadas restaurant was a memorable experience, with every dish showing an Incredible attention to detail and complexity of flavours seldom encountered. Caroline and Luis walked us through this experience and we couldn't have asked for better guides. Worth mentioning the care and attention of all the front desk staff who were incredible helpful. Would definitely return!

Desventajas: Very tired hotel. Carpets were dirty and smelled musty and in one part of vomit. Furniture was cheap and didnt look clean.

Ventajas: La piscina era perfecta, disfrutamos jugando al ping pong, también hay algunos equipos de gimnasio. La ubicación es ideal para caminar fácilmente a la ciudad o caminar al hermoso parque en la otra dirección. Ideal para gente a la que le encanta ir corriendo por la mañana. A poca distancia a pie de cualquiera de las dos estaciones de tren también.

Ventajas: Standard large modern 3* business hotel, in quiet side street not far from station and old town. Clean and comfortable room with bathtub and good wifi.
Desventajas: Bit of a smell of stale cigarette smoke; weather was mild, so was able to keep window open all night, and otherwise no complaints.

Ventajas: Good size apartment. Very large for two people. Well equipped and in a separate building form the main hotel.
Desventajas: Smell of rotting wood from a building site next door flowing in through the stairwell window. Steep, stone staircase leading the apartment. No extractor fan in bathroom. Bathroom windows not sealed and no heating caused the room to be very cold at night. Breakfast was minimal and ‘hot’ foods were not fresh and tended to be cold. Fruit juice was very watered down.

Ventajas: El edificio era el típico antigüo portugués el cual habían restaurado sin quitarle el encanto. Era acogedor y limpio.
Desventajas: Imposible pegar ojo...se escuchan todos los ruidos, la plaza a la que dan los balcones es donde se reúne la juventud hasta altas horas formando un escándalo insoportable pareciendo que están dentro de la habitación. No pudimos dormir en las dos noches, pues cuando se acaba la fiesta empieza el ruido de camiones de limpieza, autobuses, etc.

Ventajas: We changed to an in-suite doble room and the hostel standard increased significantly. Better isolation, heaters available and really comfy bed.
Desventajas: It is fine if you don't have to use shared bathrooms, not for hygiene or cleanliness, but for low temperature and lack of proper isolation of the space.

Ventajas: Really good placement to visit Coimbra.
Desventajas: We visited it on December. Showers were together at bottom level and in this area were not any heat source or equipment to warm the room, so was hard to take a proper shower. Water was hot and fine, but atmosphere really cold. Some rooms without heater were also not really comfortable and a bit cold also.

Ventajas: Staff were very welcoming and the location was great with parking right outside which is what I needed this time. Showers were a plenty as long as you don't mind going to the basement for them. All in all a nice stay
Desventajas: They advertise soundproofing but, honestly, if i didn't have ear plugs I would have lost a lot of sleep due to the neighbouring bar chucking bottles out late at night and people playing some game on the square until long after i went to bed, also very loud doors throughout the hostel and just my roommates on the first night woke me up several times even with ear plugs. Definitely loud bangy rooms! Also they specifically say that WiFi works in all areas but it definitely doesn't work on the top floor where a lot of rooms are. It wouldn't bother me but they actually advertise it!! But i stayed an extra night as it was a comfortable bed and it was low season so when my roommates left i ended up with a dorm to myself. The breakfast was good except the coffee, it is what you expect for the price, but the kitchen not brilliantly equipped although theres enough to make a meal with

Ventajas: No se puede pedir mas por ese precio, cama cómoda, habitacion limpia, desayuno buffet extraordinario. Ubicación estupenda al lado de la Universidad y puedes aparcar en la misma calle sin pagar zona azul.
Desventajas: Mucho ruido en la calle, pero no tiene culpa el hostel.

Ventajas: This is a hostel, in a historic building. The breakfast is small, but had all the basics. We had a room with our own bathroom, which was very nice. Sadly due to the covidvirus , Coimbra is empty of university students and tourists. The building is historic. It seems that it use to be a home for mother's and babies.

Ventajas: El edificio donde se encuentra el hostel es muy lindo, amplias escaleras, parece recién restaurado. La habitación era muy amplia y cómoda con unas pequeñas ventanas con vista a la Catedral. El personal fue muy amable. El desayuno es correcto.

Desventajas: No hay información suficiente sobre los servicios, el desayuno es pobre.

Ventajas: The staff is gentle and genuinely tries to help with whatever questions you may have. The place is historical itself and greatly located, just in front of the Old Cathedral. The rooms are simply decorated but well furbished.
Desventajas: Ok breakfast. Don't expect more than the normal american coffee, cheap tea, some buns, the possibility of a toast, some cereal and milk. Ants in the room. Expect to hear blowdriers and other similar sounds even if you book a double room, as the rooms are not as soundproof as you may expect and read about.

Desventajas: Very old and tired. Only 4 tv channels. No tea or coffee facilities in our room. Furniture a bit saggy in lounge.

Ventajas: El recepcionista fue muy amable y nos indicó todo lo que visitar y dónde cenar. La ubicación además es bonita, en frente exactamente de la iglesia de Santa Cruz.
Desventajas: El alojamiento tiene solera y se nota. No estaría mal modernizarlo un poquito. Lo peor quizás fuera que el aseo de nuestra habitación conectaba por el techo con el contiguo, que era común. Todos los olores y sonidos pasaban de uno a otro sin ninguna discreción.

Desventajas: Aparte del mobiliario y las instalaciones destartaladas, de la falta de bombillas en las lamparas y de inodoros que no funcionaban, esto no fue nada con lo que nis esperaba por la noche. En una de las habitaciones aparecieron chinches en los dos colchones. Ademas de no poder pegar ojo en toda la noche ni los padres ni el niño de tres años. Por la mañana, despues de las quejas, la chica de la recepcion nos devolvio el precio de la habitacion aparte de mil disculpas. Aun esperamos la llamada del dueño, que no estaba presente, para ofrecernos las suyas. Un sitio nada recomendable y excesivamente caro para los servicios ofrecidos.

Ventajas: The Quinta was a pleasant place to stay, a comfortable room with traditional furniture and good bedlinen and a new bathroom, It has rather strange surroundings but an attractive garden with a good pool and a nice country view. The owners are friendly. Breakfast is standard fare. We found restaurant im Lousa 'To dos Frangos' to be extraordinarily good value, massive portions very cheaply, beware the is a Locals section which is fun and a normal restaurant. 'Vilha' not quite so cheap but the delicious pork shin could easily have fed three!
Desventajas: The disadvantages are that, after a long tiring journey it was very difficult to find using GPS and the nearest restaurants are over three miles away in Lousa. The hot water supply is temperamental despite the fact we were the only guests. Wifi coverage is poor.

Ventajas: This place is set in farmland on the outskirts of Lousa and has great rustic charm. It is a good base for exploring the local area and is a very comfortable, quiet and relaxing place to stay. This is probably mostly to do with the philosophy expressed by Filipe (the son of the owners who met us on arrival): 'when you come through our gates you are at home'. Guests are genuinely trusted and encouraged to treat the property as their home. All the rooms are decorated with an individual theme, are comfortable and immaculately clean. The grounds are lovely with lots of places to sit quietly or to socialise with others. The pool is good for a cool off after a long day. Breakfast is simple but fresh and tasty. We also had dinner on one of our nights stay, enjoying fresh local cuisine and the company of some fellow guests. Highly recommended.

The whole experience was subpar at best, and honestly there were better options in the area, we chose this to take a break from airbnbs and get a more social experience, which we did not.

Ventajas: Be prepared to get the full residence hall vibe! Entering the accommodation was pretty easy, just call the staff (phone number on the door) and they will open the door for you. Also you‘ll receive an email with alle the information about check-in, wifi, etc.. wich also means you can do the check-in at any time. The rooms are small and simple but clean and cozy, you‘ll find everything you need, even had my own bathroom en suite. I arrived with a car and was allowed to park it on the courtyard, wich is a big plus, but parking on the street around the hostel is also free. Location wise, you‘ll make your way to the university and the botanic gardens in just a few minutes by walking down the hill. Enjoyed staying there, would recommend especially for young backpackers/travelers.
Desventajas: The kitchen is used by a lot of people, mainly students, so don’t expect it to be as clean as your kitchen at home, but for preparing your breakfast it’s all fine As i said, there are a lot of young people/students living there, so be prepared to hear them talking and laughing till late at night

Desventajas: No tenían aparcamiento, no tenía sitio para aparcar y estaba muy lloviendo, yo.

Ventajas: Me encantó el personal. Fueron increíblemente serviciales y conocedores de la zona. La ubicación es fabulosa. A una corta distancia a pie de todos los lugares de moda. Me pareció que la habitación estaba limpia y agradable. Se estaba muy tranquilo en nuestra calle.
Desventajas: Mi único problema con el lugar era que las paredes parecían ser muy finas entre las habitaciones. Nos dijeron que nuestro vecino viendo la televisión hasta alrededor de las 4 de la mañana. Me las arreglé para dormir, pero mi esposa no pudo descansar.

Ventajas: Excellent breakfast, I advice to put a self-service coffee machine in the restaurant. Indoor pool with sauna and hamam are great. Fitness gym is ok, much better than in a usual hotel, suggest to add a bench press. Any way 10 out of 10!
Desventajas: train rails are quite close, but it was not noizy. Balcony lights work until midnight, I'm ok with that, but it may interrupt someone's rest.

Ventajas: El trato del personal fue muy cordial y nos atendieron sin problemas en español. Los servicios adicionales (spa, piscina) fueron de nuestro agrado. En General todo muy bien.
Desventajas: Siempre piensas que al ser temporada baja el precio podría ser un poco más ajustado pero fue una cantidad razonable. Todos lo demás fue estupendo.

Ventajas: The hotel is well located and relatively easy to find in the city. The room for two adults and one child was good, with a view to the river and the city.
Desventajas: The cleanliness of the room could be better. The TV doesn't have many channels, for some people might be annoying. The hotel car parking is very small for some cars.

Ventajas: Staff was very nice. Food was good but it it hard to find bad portugueses food.
Desventajas: Garage is terrible, dark, unsafe and lacks ventilation. Had a CO alarm while there and it was scare. Very bad engineering. One needs to manouver on the top of the exit ramp to get out.
Location is very bad on a really rundown area of the city. Quite depressing.
Rooms had very ugly. Carpet is ugly, dated and filthy. One has tô wheat sandals.
Dryer was bad. TV was really bad as far as image quality.
Beds and pillows were really bad. All furniture was of bad quality.
Internet was ridículos. Scratchy signal and when working (very seldon) was worse than the dial up of the old times. And staff had no idea or solution. Once they suggested me to walk around my room to improve the signal. I ha 2 iPads and 2 two iPhones and some times no one could get a signal.
the sad part is that this one is supposed to be the best hotel in Coimbra. I guess I will never visit coimbra again.
