This was our third stay and it was every bit as good if not better than the first two. We had a large room with big bed covered with mosquito netting. The bathroom was modern but the hotel was wooden and felt like something from the early 20th century. The staff kept it clean. We had a terrace overlooking the garden. The breakfasts were excellent both western and Laotian. Not much. Staff smoothed over any wrinkles.
This was our fourth trip and every bit as good as the other times we had hoped and requested rooms we'd had before but the staff worked to find us one as good. The staff bends over to make the stay momorable and succeeded. Recommended highly. Not much. Food was better than last time. The hotel used to have a small shop but that's gone. I had bought great gifts in the past.
The hotel had no record of my confirmed and paid booking when I arrived. I showed them my confirmation and payment record, and after puzzling over it for an hour they shuttled me to their "resort" far out of town without apology. I was put in what must have been an overflow room that smelled like sewage. They refused to offer any refund and said that I had to take it up with the website. I was stranded there and forced to eat at the overpriced resort restaurant because it was late and there was no way back. The next morning, after a long wait, I was moved back to a room at the main hotel, again without apology. The room I was placed in was entirely average and the internet did not work. Luang Prabang is a lovely city, but I lost half of my two days there dealing with this hotel and its incompetent staff. Location is the only upside, but there are plenty of lovely looking guesthouses in town that I have no doubt would offer a superior experience for 1/4 the price.
Room is big, nice. The smell from toilet, though it is clean but smell not gone.
