After seeing my room, I was expecting the rest of the hotel to be run-down and in disrepair. I was happy that the breakfast buffet was good, and offered good selections, and everything there looked and 'felt' clean. Proximity to airport and free shuttle were plusses. I had a one-night stay in advance of my flight from the airport. So, I chose this hotel for proximity to airport and the free shuttle. The room was run-down. Not at all what I expected given the reviews. The bathtub had broken tiles; the bathroom floor had broken tiles and long stray hairs. All of that, of course, makes for an uncomfortable stay because one is constantly wondering about whether there are other lurking 'unseen' unclean/unsanitary conditions. My room looked "out" onto a glass enclosed hallway, so unless I wanted to be visible to anyone walking by, I had to keep my black out curtains closed.
this is a perfect place to spend a night after getting off a plane.
We just stayed for one night, but it was a great stay. The staff were extreamly helpful in getting us organized to fly out the next morning. I LOVE that they have their own IN-HOUSE taxi service. Makes getting out much more stress and hassle free. I wish I would have known that prior as we probably would have gone downtown. As it was, we just went to the Harly Davidson Shop via taxi. I love that the Hard Rock cafe is in the same parking lot (don't eat there though) and the mall is just across the highway (there is an over the freeway walk just down from the hotel). I HIGHLY recommend eating in the hotel at the Quattro (sorry about the spelling, but I have already tossed my receipt) It was really much better quality for the money compared to the Hard Rock food (yuck and high with poor service).
I like that the hotel provides transportation to/from the airport. Also the breakfast good variety. The staff was great ( the bell people) as well as the system technician I had an issue with my phone and he took his time to help me. I didn't like the condition of my room. I didn't mind the tower I had didn't have an elevator. But the rooms need an upgrade. When I got to my room the light didn't work so I used the lamp. The bathroom was in bad condition the tiles on the bathtub were cracked and missing the tub had a yellowish color. When I took a shower the water didn't drain right away so it was gross. The ceiling and floor of the bathroom in bad shape. The bed every time I moved the headboard will hit the wall and made a noise. They probably have better rooms I was told they are remodeling some of the rooms. I was in tower 5. I was just staying one night.
Staff was unfriendly and did not help answer questions clearly.. The pool bar was closed and the "amenities" are really just available through the country club next door
Stayed on 2 Saturdays a week apart. Big Parties and Events going on. Our room was too close to the action. Last night there was an event like senior prom. Kids running through the halls yelling. Nothing seemed to be done to curb the noise. When we finally left after no sleep at 5am, the party goers were still going strong. Front Desk didn't seem too interested in resolving either.
The customer service and breakfast were excellent! The pool is also nice to enjoy. We stayed in the deluxe room for 96 per night, but it wasn't so deluxe. The room was dated and the bathtub had permanent stains and a ring around it. We asked to see another room, but the bathroom was worse than the one that we was in. I was dissatisfied due to the price we paid.
The room was spacious and clean. Good A/C The breakfast was vry good and freshly made. The staff is always helpful and the grounds are well maintained. We really like eating at the Kapanese restauarant Sakura
The Location was excellent. We especially liked the proximity to the Hard Rock Café and the shopping mall. The airport shuttle, the free wifi, complimentary luggage storage and having the breakfast included were the key factors in our decision to book this hotel. We originally booked one night and then a separate one night stay in order to tour the Tortuguero National Park, but due to severe flooding in that area we ended up returning early and checked in a night earlier. The staff was very accommodating and helped us to upgrade to a junior suite so that we could "Dry out" from our adventures. Being able to relax in comfort during our last day in Costa Rica really helped to finish our vacation on a positive note! The hotel was a little dated in it's furnishings and décor. The pool was chilly and had a quite a few leaves in it. The Jacuzzi pool heater was also not working, so it was chilly too. The room (Junior Suite) was nice with plenty of space, but also was a little dated. The Shower that was in the corner Jacuzzi tub was odd, especially because it did not have a curtain or door. Also it was a little awkward to step over the side of the deep tub to get in and out of the shower.
our room smelled terribly of mold and mildew. We wanted to eat breakfast but had to walk quite a ways to a bridge in order to cross a very busy highway to find a restaurant that was open. We chose this hotel for its free airport shuttle, but the shuttle operated after 5:00 AM and we needed to be at the airport before 5:00 AM to catch our 7:00 SM flight. We won't be staying there again! I also had to meet someone in the lobby and we both sat there sweating because the lobby was not air conditioned.
Hotel a\was very clean and comfortable. Restaurants were excellent. Staff was very helpful for us non-Spanish speaking guests. Hotel is located not far from the airport and across the highway from a shopping center. Steam Iron did not work.
The staff was very helpful. Or original room did not have the right beds for 4 adults. They immediately found us a better room, no questions asked.
This hotel needs remodeling. It looks old and the rooms are old fashion with very low ceiling and old and noisy a/c units. the breakfast plan included with the room is not buffet and honestly is very small portion. Infraestructure and poor breakfast.
We loved the look of the inside of the hotel. When we were there we had a lot of wind. The metal sheets on the roof were rattling with high winds. We woke up a couple of times by the noise! Further there is no time limit on letting people stay at the pool side at night. When we were there the Canadian football team was also staying in the hotel. They partied a lot until late at night (read: morning 1 a.m. and at new years night until 4 a.m.) what kept us from sleeping because our room was at the pool side! Think that management should limit the evening hours at the poolside until 11 p.m. We missed a real Christmas and New Years celebration! They did not even count down at the bar. The two restaurants 'on side' were actual 1 restaurant because the other one was not open at all during our 2 weeks stay. No other restaurants were available within walking distance! Even though our room was on the first floor and close to the lobby, it was very quiet. The room was clean and the beds were so comfortable. The staff was very polite and helpful and the food at both the restaurant and room service was excellent. The hotel interiors were beautiful and the pool area was very nice also. I would definitely stay here again.
Forget everywhere else- for the money, for the comfort, for the warmth of the staff (the concierge helped me with the atm as it was in Spanish), the food, the pool and the gym are epic. Ironic that one of the best days of my vacation was the day before I left, at this hotel. Easy trip to the airport, too. We drove, but they have a shuttle.
My stay was very enjoyable. It was late when I got in and I wanted some wine to unwind with. The bartender was getting ready to close but served me two glasses and was very friendly. I thought the gift shop was loaded with interesting gifts. I also tried my luck at the casino on site. The atmosphere is like being next to a rain forest. One morning a bird of beautiful color and a vibrant song was outside my window. It is also within walking distance of a big mall. I highly recomend this place.
We really enjoyed this hotel. There was a large pool and the dining area was partly outdoors, partly indoors. It had a resort feel and our room was just a few steps from the pool. The only negative was that there was a party going on virtually every evening around the pool for larger groups and some mornings where they set up early. We were up early to go on tours but for most people this would be bothersome to have noise that early. I don't hesitate recommending this hotel to anyone but if you want quiet, ask for a room away from the pool area.
This hotel has a nice layout and the staff is friendly. But there were some serious lapses. My wife and I purchased one of the hotel specials -- the Rain Forest package. When we checked-in around 9PM, it became clear that the receptionist didn't know anything about this package. And all other on duty staff knew little more. All they could find were a couple of 20% discount coupons for the Rain Forest attractions. They had no knowledge, for example, of when the tour operator would pick us up the next day. The coupons did have a phone number and they suggested that I call it. This tour business was, of course, closed for the day. So we did not know when the tour would depart the next day. So instead of getting up the next day at a reasonable hour and having a leisurely breakfast, we were forced to get up at 6AM, not knowing anything about our Rain Forest tour, and having to call to try to get it scheduled. This is a clean, professional and friendly home away from home. Service is good and the staff greets visitors with smiling faces. The hotel however, definitely needs a gym/ exercise room. A tennis court would be fabulous.
This hotel is poorly designed for noise, you hear every work and squeak from everything in the hallways and outside all night long. We didnt get one minute of sleep as people were constantly wandering the halls going to the casino or otherwise. Service was also very poor. The guest services couldnt tell me how to operate half the lights in the room. The front desk couldn t cash travellers cheques into US dollars and this was the only hotel that couldnt do this. They sent us to a bank that also wouldnt cash them and then we couldnt get back from the bank as the hotel had no guest transportation and no connection to any shuttle drivers. We had to wait almost an hour in a LINEUP to get a taxi back to our hotel less than a mile away. Big waste of time. Food was very poor quality and they made a mistake on both of our meals. The restaurant ambiance is very poor. We couldnt hear each other talk over the swearing and yelling of all the guys sitting at the bar waiting for the casino to open. W...
What a great place to stay after a long road trip. Very nice setting with beautiful plants and gardens, you don't feel you are in an enclosed building like in other places. The staff made us feel welcome and did a great job assisting us with tours and information. Overall a great experience, would definitevely return.
Location is great for what we had to do in San Jose. The staff at the counter is always helpful with any of your demands. The price is ok for what you get. The parking is very secure. Even if the breakfast is included with the price, don't expect too much about it. We tried to get, at breakfast, at different timings but it also seems that they always ran out of coffee, multigrain bread or fruits. You can hear people from the other room
beautiful building and grounds actual room was a bit shabby, dirty. no fridge, tv didnt work, ac wouldnt turn off, even alarm clock didnt work, strange knocking sound coming from bathroom, and very loud in hall.
Clean and staff was very friendly. They charge for internet in the room but not by the pool. I think in the level of a hotel internet should be included in the room. Also should include at least a bottle of water or two in the room at no extra charge. They also need more staff at the breakfast buffet on the weekend, long line for the eggs and had to ask to have potato and bacon refilled.
The staff was very helpful and extremely courteous. The layout and decor was top notch and the amenities are amazing. I can't say enough about this place. I'm definitely coming back.
Beautiful hotel with some real charm. Staff was first class. Gift shop and cafe are open 24hrs which is a great touch to grab a hot meal anytime. Views are wonderful. Restaurants were too expensive for the area. Since there is nothing within walking distance, and traffic is so bad in the afternoon, they have a captive audience - feels like they're taking advantage of it.

The ambiance! Tropical/lush greenery and colors. Beautiful pool. Excellent food. We were at the hotel just one night before a trip to the Panama Canal. Wish we could have stayed several days.
Carolina at the front desk was wonderful. Patient, helpful and pleasant. When we arrived our Kayak booking had not been arranged by Kayak. It took almost an hour on the phone to get things straightened out.
The hotel and amenities itself were great and so was most of the staff. We really enjoyed the pool, Antigua restaurant, views, driving range, fitness center and proximity to the airport. Though the majority of the staff were great, there were three incidents during our 5 night stay that really disappointed us. Two were in the executive lounge. I won't bore you with the gentleman who lied to us on Friday evening about the actual prices of the wine on their menu. Nice guy and I actually gave him a $10.00 cash tip and he turned around and charged us double than what he told us he would. On Sunday March, 29th, 2015 we showed up at the executive lounge around 5:20 (It supposedly opened for drinks and light food at 5:00). The young lady working in the lounge hadn't put any of the food out yet. No problem, we weren't there for the food, we wanted a glass of wine and perhaps a few crackers and cheese. She told us we would have to wait for a drink until she put all the food out. Again, no problem. There was another family in the lounge and no one else was in the joint. She served them drinks after we arrived and asked for drinks but was told we had to wait. Okay, still no problem, perhaps they arrived at 5:00 and she thought they had waited too long and wanted to make it up to them. We sat there for 20-25 minutes while this lady and one helper slowly put the food out. During this time, several people arrived and were waiting for service as well. I assumed that when she was ready to start serving drinks, she would take ours first as we had been there the longest without being served. Nope, she started serving tables that just arrived while we were going on sitting in this small lounge for a half hour by now. I had to say something at this point and she just said, "I have many things on my mind". You would think at this point that she would come over to our table, apologize for the lengthy wait and take our order. Nope, she disappeared in the back room and 5 minutes later sends her helper to take our order. We ordered the large glasses of wine and he brought us over the small glasses (considerable price difference between the two) and then proceeds to charge us for the large ones. At this time I asked to speak with the hotel manager. Long story short, he came up, apologized and said the drinks were on him. Classy move by management but this young lady never once came over and apologized for her defensive, incompetent and lousy service. We actually stayed there for a while and she never once came over to our table. I would have fired this sniveling inept employee on the spot.... Later, we put our son on one of the hotel vans that compete with the local cab service out front to go back to the college he's currently attending in San Jose. I told the guy at the front desk to add the charge to our room which he gladly did. I saw him asking the van driver who works for the Marriott for an invoice and handed it to me. The charge was $35.00 and I knew that was accurate because that's the same amount we were charged when we took the same ride 2 days earlier. I found out last night that the driver charged my son on arrival the full fare again.
The hotel is very pretty and very clean. The girl at the front desk- checked in around 6ish on Monday, 8/15, Mother's Day in CR,.-wish I gotten her name- was phenomenal, welcoming, great smile and very helpful in getting three tired girls just off the bus from Quepos, situated. Helped us finding food and info on transportation next day for airport. Also brought some items we needed for the room. She was again there in the am, if she worked a double shit, she is super woman! Give her a raise! I'd gladly stay again if I'm in San Jose ever again! Remote didn't work but fronted attendant brought batteries promptly. Shower gel dispenser was broken and laying on sink counter, not a biggies, just feedback. Restaurant closed early, we had just arrived and been looking forward to eat there, only two options for delivery were pizza, and chicken places, regretably we picked pizza, but hey we ate.
