The hotel was in a nice location and nicely setup They have lot of mosquitoes all over resort and even inside the rooms. The rooms are old and need renovation
Activities included in the resort fee for adults and children are excellent. Water aerobics, trivia games, yoga classes, parrot show, etc. Food prices on the property are pretty high given the average quality. The standout is Havana Blue which is on the reef side and privately operated --- the food there is excellent!
After a long day of travel it was nice to pull into a resort that was all inclusive. There was no need to leave the premises There were some signs of deferred maintenance
Swimming pools are great with the view of the sunset. They have 5 restaurants and not a great selection on the menu and very pricey. You need a car if you're going to stay at that the Frenchman's reef. Average price for a taxi was anywhere from $8 to $14. Luggage is $4 a piece.
Staff was disinterested in providing good service.
Stayed in the villas at ''The Cove''. If you need a lot of space--this works. Great for traveling with very young children and even a nanny. You can also set up an account at the adjoining marriot hotel and go to the beach at morningstar. The cove is not very caribean in style. Our room had granite counters and furnishings found in any Marriot--not very island-ish. We also stayed in Morningstar beachside. We preferred that location for its ambiance.
I'm an owner and spent my 3rd week here at the end of October. The rooms are very nice. We have a 2 bedroom, both of which are roomy with adjacent bathrooms and balconies. The Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen are in the middle of the unit, providing additional privacy between the bedrooms if needed. I do recommend renting a car. I had no problem with driving on the left side (just remember to stay close to the left side of the road). The steering wheel is situated as in mainland US. There are plenty of taxis to get you where you want to go, but a car may be more economical. We paid $80 in taxi fees for 4 people to go out to dinner. We only did it so we didn't have to be concerned if we drank. The beach at the Cove is nice, but you need to be careful of sea urchins. To the right of the dock, there are rocks near the beach that you need to get over to get to where it's sandy under the water. This is where I had an encounter with a sea urchin. It's sandier on the left side of the dock. ...
Stayed in Nov of 2009.The setting is beautiful and the villas are exceptional. Well equiped and spacious. Food is very expensive but with the kitchenette we were able to fix some meals in the room. The location is secluded and private but that can also be a problem with transportation. Suggest renting a car but be prepared to drive on the left side. With it being still under construction going back and forth to the hotel will be more converient in days to come. There will be carts to transport guests. In some of the eateries the menus were very limited but the portions were huge and very tasty. We will definitely go back.
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The amenities and number of activities you can do on site was great. The restaurants were par. ok food, nothing to write home about. The views were beautiful and the facilities were clean. The water pressure in our shower was sub par and it made for cleaning off after the beach difficult. The carnival night which was advertised as very fun and a great time was not really all that exciting. I probably would have found something better to do with my evening had I known.
The onsite water activities that is available and heavenly days Sailing boat option. Two nearby restaurants by hotel. Bathroom toiletries could of been better. Like travel size shampoo and soaps for one time/ individual use
The outdoor areas are beautiful. The staff is very nice. There is so much to see and do at the Resort. The restaurants are very nice and the food is very good. The free beach equipment was a lot of fun. Our room could have used some updates.
Restaurant personnel unfriendly. Beach awful
The beachside restaurant was great. The pool was lovely and the staff were very accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.
My son & daugher-in-law were married on the Elysian Beach Resort on 05/08/07.. I arrived on 05/05/07 and the hotel staff was extremely unprofessional and rude. The check-in policy is not at all what my reservation letter stated from the company. The letter stated $250.00 deposit at check-in and we had to put a $3,000.00 deposit down. ! I was a hotel manager for years and I never treated my hotel guest like this and never charged them money ahead of time only at CHECK- OUT!!. !
it was better in reality than the pictures was showing.only the beach was not really a beach but there's so many beaches in st thomas to explore than the one at your hotel .the studio was really clean , towells were changed everyday.parking facilities and proximity to the supermarket was perfect.also the restaurant is great and you must try the lobster.
we are time share owners at the Elysian Beach Resort (2 weeks) and go down every year . the management lacks any knowledge of just what vacationers want and expect when they arrive and stay there. 1st. they only have 69 rooms to rent so they are always overbooked. are weeks are deeded ,so we own the unit for 2 weeks every year sat to sat. this year we arrived on a sunday night and were told that they had put someone in OUR room and they would try and put us in another room. we got our room on monday. This properity used to be a RCI 5 star gold crown resort but no longer. it would be lucky to get 1 star. 2 resturants on prop. and both overpriced for what you get. if you don't have a car you are stuck there unless you take cab's everywhere, very expensive. if going to the USVI go to the Westin in St. John, cost more but worthevery penny
Beach. We found our hotel room (119) less than desirable. There were flourescent lightbulbs, no screen on the door to the balcony overlooking the parking lot. The furniture was dated, and the staircase to reach our room was dark and unlit in the early evening.
We were very disapointed. The hotel staff was very rude and unhelpful. The hotel was not clean and in desparate need of maintenance.
