The staff was extremely friendly, but there needed to be more of them! The front desk never answered the phone, because they were either taking bags to rooms or running other errands for guests. Old style charm. Loved being out of busy town, with easy shuttle access when needed. Paid for a large room w/mountain view, got a small room w/ just an OK view. Lots of rooms have great rooms, I just wasn't given one of them. Since I paid for it, I felt I should have received a discount since I didn't receive one. When checking out another couple was given opportunity to select a room, wish they would have given me that opportunity. Restaurant needs a lot of work! Slow, slow, slow, and mediocre.
The views No A/C, but its wasn't a dealbreaker
Everything was awesome. Although off the beaten path of the village it's worth it. The free shuttle to town and the mountain was very helpful. The gps directions don't work because of the vertical gain/switch backs. Signage Could be better. A very minor issue compared to what you get.
This hotel isn't on the mountain but they make up for it with a free shuttle that they run from 8am until 12 midnight. Is all you have to do is walk to the lobby and tell them where you wanna go and they'll take you anywhere. When you're done just use the number the driver gives you and he'll pick you up. We checked out before we went skiing and they had no problem letting us leave our car and taking us to and from the mountain. They also have an awesome restaurant downstairs that should definitely be checked out if you stay there. The room was really cool. You can tell the hotel has old bones, but it has modern upgrades which make it really enjoyable. Beds were great, balcony was awesome to drink a cup of coffee on and watch the sunrise. Really cool hotel and probably the best value in Breck. I wish the breakfast was better. They had cereal, yogurt and a waffle maker. For a day that I'm going to be on the mountain all day I would like to have some hot food, at least scrambled eggs and some meat.
We went there on our Spring Break from March 9th through the 19, 2012. It was like having our own private chalet. the staff was extremely friendly and provided all kinds of insight on where to eat and where to hike. We look forward to skiing there again.
Great place. Comfortable, easy walk to town. Across the street from gondola for winter skiing. Newer and well kept.
The Mountain Thunder Lodge is a terrific place to stay for skiiers. It is a short walk to the gondola which accesses several ski mountains. Best of all, one can ski directly to the Lodge at the end of the day. And at the end of the day, the outside hot tubs were fantastic. Service was terrific. The staff was always very courteous and diligent. Their vans will shuttle you anywhere in town, so conveniently. I normally don't tip at hotels but left a generous tip for the cleaning person because our condo was always so well attended to. When we ski again at Breckenridge, we will definitely stay there. It is first-class!
We loved our stay at Mountain Thunder. The condo was lovely and spacious, and we particularly enjoyed the daily maid service and shuttle to EVERYTHING in town. You could literally park in the underground garage and never move your car during the entire stay. Front desk personnel were extremely helpful and the ski locker-included-in-stay was so convenient. Excellent location at base of Peak 8 with a ski-in feature that was great for the last run of the day. We'll definitely be going back to Mountain Thunder!
My family stayed in one of the townhomes in August 2007 and had a positive experience. The townhomes are privately owned and are in a booking pool through the hotels. The townhome had two bedrooms, fireplace, two bathrooms, complete kitchen and livingroom/dining room area, and garage. The accomofations were clean and very comfortable. There is also a patio backing up to a wooded area. The hotel has a lovely pool area with ahot tub. The hotel is about a 2 block walk to town but while you are on the grounds you feel very secluded. The only negative point, if there was one, is the side where are townhome was located is below a road leading up to the mountain, which made it a litte noisy at night. We are considering retruning in July 2009.
We had two families staying in the 2 bedroom condos. Both were comfortable clean and perfect for what we needed for summer week's stay. Staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. Room was cleaned daily. The location in Breck is excellent for getting to Main Street, about 3-4 blocks away. Also, 2 blocks from the grocery store, and one block from the Peak 8 Gondola. Appears to be a ski-in location during the winter. Free shuttle will pick you up around town. We didn't move our car while we were there because we could either walk through town and back or take the shuttle. The only cons are minor: $20 'resort fee' per day adds up, limited covered parking (in the Winter), I would prefer nicer kitchen utensils, and small TV in our rooms (other condo had flat screens).
I visited in August with my family and this hotel was a great value at that time of year! The nightly rate for a 2BR condo was comparable to a regular hotel room. The room was beautifully decorated, modern/rustic with large rooms and a full kitchen. The beds were very comfortable with nice linens. There were three hot tubs and an outdoor swimming pool, gas BBQ grills and beautiful landscaping around the property. There was no air conditioning, but with daily high temps of 70 degrees, this wasn't an issue. There is a laundry room on each floor with free washer/dryer use. Maid service comes every day, which was a nice surprise at a condo. Hotel staff is super friendly and helpful. It's a walk of a block to the Breck-Connect gondola and a block to get to Main Street. Can't say enough positive things about this hotel.
Ski in / out. The lodge is minutes away from the city lift and convenient to resturants and nightspots. Parking is underground. Staff is very professional and helpful
Beautiful place. We were on our own and really had no need of staff other than housekeeping. Good value and great location and ease of access to Breckenridge shopping and dining. It would have been nicer to have a more comfortable bed and sheets; which were like sleeping on paper on a hospital table. Did not like that we did not have a method of controlling temperature in the room; thus having to leave the windows open at night made for a very noisy night being right against a major road and bus depot. (air conditioning would have been nice; even though it is chilling most evening; it was not during our stay) So a nights rest was not something we were able to obtain. If we had been planning an extended stay; we would have only needed to supply food. All ammenties in the full kitchen were there. Even the corkscrew for a bottle of wine to be shared on the balcony.
Quick check-in, hot tubs, pool, location Noise. Had a baby with us and the way the halls are designed put a door for another room by our wall. No room service. Forced valet parking.
This is an older hotel that has been updated, but not recently. The decor looks to be about ten years old. But it was clean and had new linens. The location of the hotel is second to none. It is an easy one minute walk to the base of Peak 9, and a three minute walk to Main Street's shops and restaurants. Additionally, there is a shuttle stop just outside the front door. The bathrooms are very small. So small, that you must step into the bathtub or squeeze into the six inches next to the toilet in order to close the bathroom door. Additionally, the entire hotel runs out of hot water during what the hotel's engineer called the "shower hour", which was around 4-5pm when many skiers came back to the hotel after a day of skiing.
Right at the base of the mountain. Great lift access!
We loved the place. Staff was great, location could not be beat. Our kids had a wonderful time at the Fun Park right outside our door!
One Ski HIll Place - Rock Resort is 'out of this world'...the accomodations were superb. Kitchen was fully equipped, right down to a wisk. The staff was friendly; remembered our names; helped us with all of our gear, etc. One of the best features of the resort is where it is located: right at the peak. No hassle getting to and from the mountain. We loved it!
Construction required walking through basement parking deck to leave condo unit. Also, was expecting "villa" to be a standalone building on the ground level but it was instead a 1-bedroom condo/hotel room.
The staff was very friendly, hotel/room clean, and the view was awesome (we had moose and deer walk by the our window daily). Location was perfect for walking to town for shopping and dinning. The parking was a little odd, having to walk to another facility to park. But a minor inconvenience.

Nice common area. Very clean and the manager very accommodating.
Totally remodeled, nice colors and furniture. Price and friendly staff it is not hotel's fault - the location. A bit remote.
Great location, great family swimming pools and room ,great place to stay
Price was reasonable. Not aloud to smoke on your balcony, outside. Appears people live at this hotel.

Staff was very friendly and helpful Proximity to the main highway caused some road noise. The shower water pressure was very weak.
Very clean (and I'm very picky). The staff was very nice and laid back. It was a nice location too. Snacks all day all. The room was a little crowded. We only spent one night due to our schedule, but had it been a longer stay the room size may have been more of an issue.
pleasant, Inn-like with motel type rooms. good value no
Very clean friendly staff and good location. Our room door was left open by the cleaning staff until we got back that evening luckily nothing missing.

Excellent location less than a mile to downtown breck Ran out of hot water when it was -10 outside.
The place is clean, internet worked well, had kitchen (with utensils etc.). DVD player with some decent movies was welcoming. A little far from the main street (~5 blocks) and making multiple trips a day (b'fast, lunch, dinner etc.) tires you. The door locks were dated and it required effort to open (and felt i might break the key!:)). they should go to the electronic key.
The location was great! A very short walk to the quaint downtown for shopping and eating. Close to the 4 o clock run and shuttle for the slopes. Beds were comfortable. Room was small for two beds, not much room to spread out or unpack. A little noisy at times. Hot tubs were crowded.
Very large bathroom, especially considering it was an efficiency Dining area was too small
Very comfortable and well appointed room. Slightly dated but in a nice way. Big comfortable chairs and fantastic older style well provided kitchen. Car Park entrance is tight, but ok once you get used to it!
Room wasn't ready at 930pm when we were trying to check in with our child. Check out time is noon so there is plenty of time to get it cleaned. There were several other people whose rooms were also not ready at that time.
The location. Our bed was horrible. Outside hot tubs were small and the Jets didn't work on one of them. Our shower leaked on the floor and the sink in the bathroom was all chipped up. The decor was very dated. Carpet looked stained. The free DVD machine didn't work.
Gym under repair. Windows wouldn't open, no fan and no wipes to clean machines.
The location. The tiny room was incredibly hot in the summer. The staff was unfriendly and unaccomodating. Parking was a hassle, and the decor was dated and musty.
