The short version: do not fly this airline. On their nest day they are mediocre but if anything goes wrong they are impossible to contact and you will be on your own. Spend the extra 100-200 for a company with decent customer service, consider it insurance. The full story: Disclaimer - there was a snow storm for our return flight. Xl decided to fly anyway and we were forced to land at Dulles (dc) instead of JFK (nyc) a full 300 miles away. We had no contact with the airline once we landed and were not given our bags. We landed ~ 10 pm and spent the next 3 hours attempting to find an xl representative who could explain to us how we were supposed to get home. I ended up sharing a rental car with some passengers at our expense and driving all night. Apparently xl got a shuttle to pick up the rest of the passengers at 10 am but they were forced to sleep at the airport. I spent all day attempting to contact xl about getting my bags; their customer service is a joke. When you call them you are presented with 4 possible options - 3 of them inform you to email the company instead and the 4th went straight to a voicemail system assuring that they would "call back". I ended up going to JFK where they were sending the plane with our bags to arrive at 7 pm. 11pm came around with no bags so I gave up and went home. Apparently they got the bags off the plane at 1 am; I had to return to pick them up the next day.
Much more pleasant than my first flight with this airline. Professional staff, easy boarding.
I paid $60 extra for an exit seat but it turned out those seats could be free and up for grabs after the flight takes off. When I arrived to my row I found it empty which made me happy and I felt it was worth the price to "upgrade" since I could now stretch out and have space around me. However, after take off everybody ran up to take the empty seats and the flight attendants said it was allowed. Kind of annoying I paid extra but nobody else did and got the same amenity as I did. Won't be doing that again.
Flight delayed for hours without explanation. Insanely rude staff. Most uncomfortable flight.
I liked the price of this ticket. Flight was on time and airplane was clean.
Crew didn't come to pick up trash before landing. I had ordered a vegetarian meal which was never logged into the system. They didn't offer an alternative or even a snack instead. Entertainment wasn't good and was confusing to figure out. in flight map didn't work.
